Hard ruleDescription
Sichuan pepper and clove oil plus a touch of tobacco leaf
Almost half the vines from which this is produced are nearly a century old
Perhaps the best value in Cote Rotie today
The 2005 Shiraz “Underhill” was aged in 30% new oak
This isn’t quite a robust as it usually is though it’s a big wine all the same and will require an extended cellar siesta
Samuel Billaud, Chablis Mont Milieu other_regions Sichuan pepper and clove oil(from a . 58 ha holding). There is a mild exoticism and wood influence on the ripe and fresh nose that offers up enough Chablis character to be persuasive. The exceptionally rich, intense and plush flavors brim with both minerality and dry extract while exhibiting solid length on the powerful, serious and bitter lemon inflected finale. This should drink well young but have no trouble rewarding 5 to 8 years of cellar time.
