Vintage Leonard Bernstein "West Side Story" T-Shirt Rap & R&B Original t-shirt from 1998 inLeonard Bernstein's musical West Side Story debuted in 1957 in Washington DC. The show, which was based on Romeo And Juliet, became a smash hit, winning Tony Awards in every one of its Broadway iterations. In 1984, Bernstein himself conducted a production of West Side Story in New York which featured Kiri Te Kanawa, Jose Carreras, and Tatiana Troyanos.
