With Billy Cox on bass and Buddy Miles on drums, Hendrix created an entirely new band, the Band of Gypsys. Their only album was a live recording cut on New Years Day 1970 at the Filmore East in New York City. The record was certified Gold only two months after its release and has since gone Platinum.
