Hosta ventricosa Lakeside Black Satin Verbena In mid-April (NC)This distinctive H. ventricosa selection from Mary Chastain is known for its intense black green leaf coloration and heavily rippled leaf margins that are a dramatic improvement over the typical species. The 2' wide clump is slightly smaller than typical H. ventricosa, although it is still topped with standard 26" tall scapes of large purple and white striped bell like flowers in early summer. Once you see this plant, there's no turning back!
