Fradelle was a painter and portraitist and he specialized in literary and historical subjects. For more than a 100 years, Fradelle was mistakenly assigned his son's name, Henry Joseph Fradelle, the latter trained as an artist but never reached the critical acclaim of his father. This scene depicts a Shakespearian courting
