Starting in mid August (NC), the 25" tall stalks, cinnamon brown at the base, are topped with terminal clusters of 8 9 bright red buds tipped in blue and open to cherry red with blue tipped petals quite stunning. For us, the foliage emerges in mid October and grows through the winter.
