Originally born in Germany, Bukowski moved to Los Angeles, CA at an early age with his family and lived there for the rest of his life. He published small poems in various journals while working as a letter sorter at the post office for the majority of his life until Black Sparrow Press offered him a publishing deal when he was 49. Bukowski published his first novel Post Office in 1971 and published five more
