Based on the comic by David Quinn and Tim Vigil, the movie was written by Quinn and Miguel Tejada Flores and directed by Brian Yuzna and features Mark Frost as Faust. The comic was very influential, it created a superhero comic with explicitly adult themes that bent the genre in weird directions. The film capitalized on those gory and gruesome details.
